Chocolate, Anyone?

We have a potluck luncheon tomorrow after church. I decided to make an old family favorite from many years ago. It is called a "Scotch Cake" which is just our great old fashioned chocolate cake. Can't count the number of times I've made this one. You may have made it, too, but perhaps called it something else.

Hot Fudge Pudding Cake

1/4 tsp salt
2 T cocoa
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
2 T shortening
4 T brown sugar
2 T cocoa
2 cups hot water

Mix first 5 ingredients in a bowl. Stir in milk and shortening. Spread in an 8x8 inch prepared baking dish. Mix brown sugar and additional cocoa and sprinkle over mixture. Pour 2 cups hot water on top and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve hot alone or with ice cream.

DEATH-BY-CHOCOLATE CAKE

3/4 c. sour cream
4 eggs
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. oil
1 chocolate cake mix
1 small box instant chocolate pudding
1 c. semisweet chocolate chips
powdered sugar

Preheat oven 350 degrees.

Beat sour cream, eggs, water, and oil together in a large bowl until thoroughly mixed. Add cake mix and pudding mx. Stir in chocolate chips. Place batter in a greased and floured bundt pan.

Bake 45-55 minutes, or until a fork inserted into cake comes out clean.

While still hot, invert cake onto a serving plate. When cool, you can sift powdered sugar over top of cake.

Note: I didn't have instant chocolate pudding. So I used the white chocolate instant pudding that I had on hand. Chocolate is chocolate!
