The Dreaded "S" Word!

I’ve been there before. Didn’t really want to have to go back. Said I wouldn’t. However...... No options! No choice!

Sinus surgery is no fun. Some of you may have experienced this, too. I did many years ago, but not so many that I have forgotten the dreadful thing. They say the techniques have improved. That is to be seen. I just remember what it was like the first time around. Whew!

So…….would you, could you say a prayer for me? I’m having it done tomorrow.

I am trusting God to give me a great experience this time—complete with a super talented doctor, a great nurse, ease of coming out of the sleeping state, meds that work when called upon, and finally, the results to keep me free from all those rotten infections one after another. I'll be back soon.

Cherry Blossom Festival

When we planned our D.C. trip, we didn't realize we would get to see the trees in bloom. What a treat! These were taken at the Arlington National Cemetery.

For now, suffice it to say we had a great trip. Marilyn and I enjoyed every minute of it. The kids entertained us constantly, and the sites were awesome. I'll share (or bore you) with more later.

Going, Going...Gone

Marilyn, Greg, Chad, Jenna, and I are leaving for Washington, D.C. in the morning. Marilyn is the only one that has been there before; she is our official trip planner and guide. We are looking forward to touring the White House, Capitol, and all the museums. Quite by accident, we will be there to experience the cherry blossom festival as well. Who knows what craziness we will see as a result of all the action that has come down the pike in the last couple of days there. We will be taking some detours on our own. We've rented a car for one day to go out to Mt. Vernon. I think I may learn more on this trip than I could ever imagine!

I will look forward to getting back with the rest of my family and you on Monday!

Victoriously Frazzled

Can't wait to start this in April. It's our next ladies bible study book.

“Victoriously Frazzled will help any worn out, burned out, and stressed out woman understand the Spirit God has given her. The goal is to lead women into the presence of God—right in the midst of their ‘frazzledness.’ By doing so, women will gradually pull back from confusion and doubt, from fear and self, and allow God’s Spirit to have His way in their lives.”

A Few Seeds and A Lot of Sugar

This was a fun place to tour while we were in Fredericksburg. It was a little early in the season though.

I know it looks like all I do is eat! But not really--I promise. This is another one of those famous desserts that we 1) shared three ways and 2) counted as our meal.

It was called "Killer Banana Split."
Can't imagine why!

Walking in "Comfort"

Comfort, Texas is a popular tourist area along the Guadalupe River established by German settlers years ago. We drove the short distance from Fredericksburg to check it out. We had such a great time walking the streets of the quaint little town checking out all the antique shops and historical buildings.

HAPPY HOUR PIE!!!

Today, we were out on the road headed to the Hill Country. We had lunch in Marble Falls. We knew we were in for a treat as we followed the signs to a restaurant that was touting their 80+ year-old business. The billboards all read "Daily Lunch Specials and Homemade Pies."

OH MY GOODNESS......what a treat. Chicken fried steak, pot roast, chicken tenders and PIE!!

HAPPY HOUR PIE!!!!
Have you ever..........

Peanut Butter Pie!

It was so different than you could imagine. So creamy!!!

We weren't there 3:00-5:00, but it was worth FULL price. Trust me!

Head for the Hills

A year ago this week during spring break, we were vacationing in Big Bend and the Hill Country. We were gone for 10-12 days just hopping around from place to place. It was one of those trips we had never taken but had always talked about doing. We enjoyed every minute of it! I loved Fort Davis.

So much so that we will be going back next month.

Everyone Needs a Little

Come all ye weary and ye broken
Come to the table of the Lord
Come sing the song of the forgiven
Come lay your burden on the Word

Come and find
Peace everyone needs a little
Rest everyone needs a little
Joy and a song to sing in the darkest night
Life even when it gets you down
Hope will turn it all around
But love is the greatest of these
Everyone needs a little

Sing all ye saints and ye sinners
Call upon the mercy of the Lord
Come sing the song of redemption
Sing about the hope that is to come

He will lift you up
He will lift you up higher than sorrow
He will lift you up
And cover your soul with healing.

Caramel Banana Muffins

I just made these! I'm fighting BIG TIME to not eat the whole dozen.

1/2 cup chopped pecans
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 3-oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 medium banana, peeled and mashed (1/2 cup)
1 tsp. vanilla
1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. caramel-flavored ice cream topping
1 medium banana, peeled and thinly sliced (optional)
1 Tbsp. butter, melted
Caramel-flavored ice cream topping (optional)
Directions

1. Line twelve 2-1/2-inch muffin cups or 6 jumbo (3-1/4-inch) muffin cups with paper bake cups. In a small bowl, mix pecans, 2 tablespoons sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.

2. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, softened butter and 2/3 cup sugar with an electric mixer until well combined. Add egg and beat well. Beat in the mashed banana and vanilla until combined.

3. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to the banana mixture, beating on low speed until just combined.

4. Stir 1/4 cup of the pecan mixture. Spoon half the batter into prepared muffin cups (1 rounded tablespoon for each 2 1/2-inch muffin cup or 2 rounded tablespoons for each jumbo muffin cup). Drizzle 1/2 teaspoon caramel topping over batter in each cup. Top with remaining batter. If you like, top each muffin with 2 thin slices additional banana. Drizzle each with a little melted butter and sprinkle with remaining pecan mixture.

5. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Remove from pan. Serve warm drizzled with more caramel topping. Makes 12 standard or 6 jumbo muffins.

She's on the Loose!

Glory is at that fascinating age. She's always on the move. She's learning. She's exploring. She's into it all!

Literally!

Don't you just wish you could always know what little ones are thinking?

It Was Wormin' Weather!

Can't tell you the number of times Jonah and I have gone digging for worms! Since he was old enough to know what worms were and where they lived, he and I have snagged a large number of these little slimy things. Ladies, it's not a glamorous thing...but this Nanna is one happy lady to oblige!

A Twenty-Four Piece Puzzle

I purchased these wonderful squares at a local garage sale. I couldn't get them in my bag quick enough. In years gone by, some precious little lady has pieced 24 quilt squares. Each square seems to be in honor of a family member including "Mother" and "Father." Even more exciting is that I think some of these people were probably residents of my little hometown. I sort of remember hearing two or three of these names growing up. I am currently speaking to some older friends here in town to see if we can get this puzzle put together. One lady said," Oh, I remember that name. I think 'he' was in my class."

I WILL get to the bottom of this little treasure! And I WILL get it quilted. Someday.

Dreaming of Spring!

It's still not too springy around here. At least not outside.
Inside's a different tale!
