Where Did It Go?

The weekend was way too short. I am very thankful though that I got to:

*spend time with Rick, children (grands, too), and sis
*go to church
*reflect on some special "fathers" that I was blessed to have in my life
*see friends

And...it's been a profitable Monday for this week #3 endeavor!

Have a great week!

Summing Up The Week!

I'm home for the weekend from a grueling first week of training. I think the remainder of the month will be somewhat easier on the old brain although just as busy. I'm pretty much busy day and night with assignments. Next week, we will begin learning protocols for all the different test batteries and actually testing children. I've washed my laundry, bought some food, and will be repacking tonight.

Last weekend before I left town I didn't get the chance to document the jeep progress. Rick is mostly through with the engine; it's running and very shiny. Last Saturday he got a friend to help hoist the "other" part down on the frame. Now it's time for all his attention to be devoted to the exterior. As you can see, it's going to be one of those "before and after extreme makeover" deals. Stay tuned.....

Rick, Jonah and Justin are at the races at Texas Motor Speedway. I think Keelie was running in a Komen race today, and Jenna is in Lubbock visiting friends. So no grass growing under our feet around here......

A New Chapter

Today began a new career for me. I am going to be in training the entire month of June to become an educational diagnostician. (I have recently retired with 30+ years from our school district here.)

Classes will be Monday through Friday---anywhere from 7 to 12 hrs. a day. That doesn't include homework time in the evenings. But that's ok. The upside to this is it is similar to a mini-mester in college which I always tried to sign up for while getting my degrees. It's hard while you are in them, but the "pain" doesn't last too long.

I've got to hit the books. Have a great week!

Natchez and "The Tomato Place"

This past week we took a girls' trip to Natchez. Thanks to Trip Advisor, we stumbled onto a little gem outside of town!

From the road, "The Tomato Place" appears to just be this way-too-cute little produce stand with a hot dog stand beside it. It is so much more! Packed into two small buildings from days gone by, this family owned and operated business is so cool.

The hot dog stand building is actually the kitchen where fresh entrees, sandwiches, and desserts are prepared daily. As you browse both inside and outside the main little building, you will find in this tiny area the best fresh produce, jellies, honey, cookbooks, crafts, and trinkets. There are a few tables crammed inside so you can sit after you have placed your order from the chalkboard. There are also tables outside as well.

We enjoyed the best BLTS ever. The sweet potato fries and okra were to die for. The bread pudding was a treat, too. If I had not been stuffed, I would have loved to try one of their fresh strawberry banana smoothies!

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and the chance to just relax in such a quaint place. Thumbs up and up and up..........
