Jackson's Kidney Issue

During Jenna's pregnancy, she found out that one of Jackson's kidneys was enlarged. Throughout the remainder of her pregnancy, she was monitored by her doctor as well as a high risk doctor.

Marilyn and I went down on Monday, May 15, to go with Jenna to take him for three appointments including two scans and his pediatrician. Jackson was diagnosed has having Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR). For short, I just call it kidney reflux of the right kidney. I had to research it because I did not know anything about it.

Today, Jenna took him to see the pediatric urologist. The specialist explained everything and thought it was in Jackson's best interest to be put on a very low dose of an antibiotic to prevent UTIs. Although this was not desirable, the doctor said for now that option is better than perhaps having to do surgery.

He will have new scans in two months.

(These are a couple of photos from Marilyn's photo shoot she did while we were there.)
