Buns in the Oven

First and most importantly......

This is Jenna and Jared's first real picture of their baby. It is such a blessing to be able to see and hear life at such an early stage. Jenna is not really even showing yet, but God's little miracle is so clearly evident. She had some testing yesterday through blood work; they will get results within a couple of weeks. At that point, they can also find out the baby's gender.

And then on a much lesser note......

I tried my hand at homemade cinnamon rolls recently. They went over well.  There's just something about brown sugar and cinnamon!

Goosey Goosey Gander

These "not so little" things entertain us for hours as we sit out on the patio and watch them. We still have the six geese we have raised, one white duck (who thinks she is a goose), and with spring time we always have extra wild geese that fly in and hang around.

Nothing else needs to be said about it.

More Camping and Some Comfort Food

The remainder of our camping trip is being spent here at Lake Joe Pool. The lake level currently is more than 3 feet above its "full" level. Driving around the Loyd Park area we have only found a few spots that were not accessible to campers.

We are loving our time here. I brought my sewing machine to do some work on my next two quilts. I have been cooking our meals; we have enjoyed several with Jenna and Jared. I cooked some of her favorite comfort food dishes (i.e. several casseroles). She has been having a few normal issues with meals and nausea during her first trimester. So she was looking forward to some of her favs.

Last night after dinner, we played Mexican Train Dominoes. I hadn't played this in a very long time and really enjoyed it. Got to play again!

Today and tomorrow I think we have some eating out adventures on the books.

A Full Lake Ray Roberts

Rick and I left out on Monday for a week of camping. First stop was Lake Ray Roberts. We had reservations there for two nights. We knew the lake was up (as all of them are!) but had no worries about finding a spot. Some areas were closed but we had no trouble finding one on high ground.

By Tuesday, the park people had decided to let no new campers come in and closed the park as flood gates were wide open. We were scheduled to leave there Wednesday at noon so they said we were welcome to stay and in no danger. We actually had two really nice days there.

Before we left I got a few pics of some areas underwater. It's so strange to see this much water. Texas has been in drought for a very long time!

DFW Great 100 Nurse

Jenna recently received the following notice at work:

“Congratulations! It is a privilege to inform you that have been selected as one of the “Dallas-Fort Worth Great One Hundred Nurses” for 2015.”

Her selection for this recognition means that a panel of nursing professionals chose her from among the hundreds of nominations received. The judges did not know the names, titles, or employers of any of the nominees, and based their decisions entirely on the contents of the letters received against the stringent criteria for selection. “This is a once in a lifetime honor a nurse can receive.”

The DFW Great 100 Nurses, Inc. celebration was at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas last week. Rick, Jerry, Marilyn, and I attended the celebration. (Justin and Keelie were not able to go because of the death of her grandmother.) We had a catered dinner prior to the program. It was a very special evening.

Proud momma!

Happy Nurse's Week!

Ladies' Event and Some Quiche

Several from church including Marilyn and me recently attended a ladies' event at a nearby church. We were led in music worship by a former young man who was at our home church for a few years. The key note speaker was Carol Kent. We had heard her a couple of years ago, and we were pretty excited to get to hear her again.

I have read a couple of her books and would strongly encourage anyone to read about this lady's testimony.  A good place to start is with her book, "Now I Lay My Isaac Down."

Here's the official description taken from her site:

When God calls us to lay down the place, ministry or even the person we love most on the sacrificial altar, how will we respond? When her only son committed murder Carol Kent was forced to lay the person she valued most, or her "Isaac," in the hands of God. Fortunately, like Abraham before her, in the midst of her terrible sacrifice Carol encountered the God who loves her more than she loves her Isaac and she learned, little by little, to trust her Isaac to His caring hands. If you or someone you love is in the process of laying down an "Isaac," you will find Carol's heart-wrenching story and godly guidance absolutely indispensable.
No more spoiler alerts.....just encouragement to read it!
