A Twenty-Four Piece Puzzle
I purchased these wonderful squares at a local garage sale. I couldn't get them in my bag quick enough. In years gone by, some precious little lady has pieced 24 quilt squares. Each square seems to be in honor of a family member including "Mother" and "Father." Even more exciting is that I think some of these people were probably residents of my little hometown. I sort of remember hearing two or three of these names growing up. I am currently speaking to some older friends here in town to see if we can get this puzzle put together. One lady said," Oh, I remember that name. I think 'he' was in my class."
I WILL get to the bottom of this little treasure! And I WILL get it quilted. Someday.
Great idea.

Oh WOW!!! What a FUN find!! Can't wait to see the finished product and the story behind those names!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a find! Those blocks are so cool. I have a signature quilt. My Aunt, my grandmother and my dad have blocks on it. Dad is the only male signed on the quilt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by.

I was excited to see these. I have an old quilt that was my grandmother's and the squares are the same pattern. I keep meaning to do a post on it. It was made for her by the ladies in the community when my mom's family was moving from Missouri to Texas around 1940. My mom knew most of the people on my quilt (she gave it to me) so I have a history of it too. I hope you get to the bottom of yours!

Those squares will make such a neat quilt. Hopefully you can find out a bit more about the people. Small world, my Mother's name is Leona. You don't see that name very often. Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome...have fun with it! :D
ReplyDeleteThat would be really cool if you were able to find out who these people were!
ReplyDeleteThat is treasure! If those pieces could only talk!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. What a puzzle and mystery to solve. That would be amazing if you could find the original family beautifully and lovingly stitched on this fabric.

This reminds me of my grandmother's quilts. I remember her embroidering on some of them. It's going to be pretty when it's put together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat puzzle. I hope you are able to find all the pieces and also make a beautiful work of art of it.
