Head for the Hills

A year ago this week during spring break, we were vacationing in Big Bend and the Hill Country. We were gone for 10-12 days just hopping around from place to place. It was one of those trips we had never taken but had always talked about doing. We enjoyed every minute of it! I loved Fort Davis.

So much so that we will be going back next month.

  6. I love the Ft Davis area! It's beautiful there in its barren and rocky way. That sounds like a fun trip - I'd love to return... They have a really nice place to view the Marfa lights now, too. I don't know when you were there last but I've been back twice. I love all the cottonwood trees lining the waterway thingie there, too. My favorite trees. I've always been in summer but I'll bet springtime is beautiful! Have a wonderful time - watch out for rattlers! We saw a couple of little ones in Marfa at night at the lookout!

  14. Go to McDonald Observatory one evening and look at the stars. It is wonderful. This area is known for it's lack of artificial, city lighting and has wonderful night viewing of the sky. Can you tell I am a science teacher? Have a great time.

  16. My brother once lived in Midland and when we visited we would always take side trips. Ft. Davis is a great place (always wanted to stay at the Indian Lodge, but never did.

I've not made it as far as the Rio Grande, but want to visit Big Bend some day.

    Blessings,
    Joan
