Cook's Block!

Ok, what do I cook? I need an idea!

What would YOU serve for 10-13 ladies coming to your home? I thought it would be fun to try someone else's recipe! I need the name of a favorite casserole, soup or something! I don't want you to have to do the "send me your recipe" thing if you are too busy. But if you give me a name, I'll google it and go from there.

Thanks......from my kitchen to yours!

P.S. If we can get about 6 more Texas bloggers, we are going to make the goal of 30!! So check your lists and send some over to get on the list.

  1. Hi Diana,
This is fun! For a group of ladies, this time of year, I'd do something a little heartier than usual. Off the top of my head:
-Hot Chicken Salad Casserole (rice, chicken, almonds, crm of chicken soup)
-Chicken Spaghetti (the one with cheddar on top, and I like adding black olives, pimientos, and almonds because it's pretty and my kids aren't there to say "ewww...."
-Cajun Shrimp and Pasta - I've done this one for a graduation lunch and it worked great to make ahead.

I'm glad to share recipes. Just let me know!

    Hugs,
    Renee

  2. Hope you find something to fix! I would send you a recipe, but I am one of those cooks who just dumps it in and doesn't measure anything.

  4. Oooooh, good one! Let's see, Pizza Hut? Domino's? NO? Oh okay, there's a recipe floating out there that is SO good and it's a throw-it-together-and-bake-it kind of meal so it's perfect. It's got chicken topped with swiss cheese in a 9x13, then pour a BAG of stuffing cubes over it, butter, and cream of chicken soup. I'm sure you could find it online. I don't know how to do a link on comments but I bet you could find it. My kids even eat it and it's warm and good. I'll be thinking of others and you let me know if you think of anything good!! Make sure you post what you make so we can all get a new idea!! ♥

  7. If it's this month, I'd go for a good soup, some ham and cheese rolls, and a salad. Then for dessert, you could make a good cobbler. OR the apple dumpling recipe....made with Mt. Dew..OH MY!
I have a couple of soups I'd recommend...One is corn and crab, or just Velvety Corn soup; I also have a good chicken Corn Chowder recipe. And the ham and cheese rolls, I make with frozen bread dough, butter, seasoning, ham and cheese rolled into a jelly roll type and then baked...need more info, just ask....

  11. Wow, everyone else has got some great ideas already. Have you ever made asian coleslaw with instant noodles? For sure google this... I like to use broccoli slaw instead of coleslaw and I'll add chicken for protein and peanuts. It's really good with some diced mango too! It can feed a large crowd and be a really yummy salad meal. Also I love to make spaghetti pie from allrecipes cause it reminds me of an easier poor man's version of lasagna another great one for a large crowd. Just saying Hello as I still get settled in here! Did you get any snow for Christmas? We had some in Grapevine when we visited Grandparents, I think it followed us from Canada! :) It's so good to be back!

  14. Hi, I'm not from Texas but I'll send your request to some other Texan bloggers I know! I'm doing a 1950's cocktail party for my Dad and I think that might be a cool theme for a party. The food was simple and you could have everyone dress up in vintage-y stuff!

  16. After reading the suggestions I'm already hungry and can't think of anything else right now.

It's always fun to find blogs from your home area. Though I'm not a Texan I can still relate to the feeling of finding a blogger that lives in my home state!
