My "CAR" Time--Part I

I had to drive into Richardson, Texas yesterday for a meeting. (This is not a routine thing for me.) When you drive the route I had to go, you never know if it will take an hour or four to get there with the crazy traffic. I left early and made it in what I would consider an "OK" commute time. I don't know if you do this or not but I usually go prepared with things to do in the car once I get where I'm going.

I couldn't resist taking this pic as I looked around after I parked. It is highly representative of the things I usually enjoy while killing time in the car. So for the next hour and a half, I enjoyed catching up on my daily bible reading, a brand new slick magazine, and a Diet Coke. I would have included my iPhone (Words w/ Friends), but then I was taking this pic with it!

Simple pleasures to me..........

To be continued.......

  1. I always go with a "car book"...one I only read when I am stuck in the car and a Starbucks coffee...that makes me a happy "camper"...xxoo Diana

  4. Yep, definetly a book, and a diet coke or water. If it's a Doctor appt. then I probably add my bad of my latest crocheting project.

  5. Hi Diana,
Thanks for dropping by the other day, it was great to hear from you.
So glad you have those simple pleasures to enjoy as you were waiting, sure makes the time go faster I'm sure.
Actually read your post yesterday but for some reason it would not let me leave a comment, forget why know. Anyway, loved the paragraph at the bottom about interruptions in our lives especially since it hits us where we are living,
and what she said about it being an invitation
by God to do something beyond our wildest dreams.
Love that and feel that something good is about to happen to us !!

Hope all is well with you hon,
    Blessings, Nellie

  6. Sometime an unexpected free hour is the greatest gift of all. I try to plan ahead like you, too. My iPhone has been a good source of entertainment when I find some unexpected free time away from home. But nothing beats a book or magazine when you've remembered to think ahead.

  7. Oh I stuff books in my purse as I go out the door for anything...right now it is for baseball practice. Magazines are so much fun also...never miss an opportunity.

  8. I always take things to read with me too, and my drink of choice is iced tea. I can't just sit there :-)
The bible study on Jonah sounds wonderful too.
    Blessings,

  9. I have learned to relish traffic delays instead of tensing up (my former reaction). I've also got my cell phone/email/text abilities, my car radio (and LOUD Christian music), or the ability to turn the vehicle into a prayer closet. Far more benefits than drawbacks!

  11. I always take my crochet with me ... even as a passenger, I can work away on a project. I also usually have a word search in my purse and a magazine if I know I will be gone a while. Prevention Magazine is tiny and easy to stuff in any bag so great when waiting indoors somewhere. I'm always amazed when I see folks just sitting for long periods of time doing absolutely nothing. No way I can just sit and stare. :/ Hope you are having a great weekend. Tammy

  12. Considering I don't have to commute in traffic, there really isn't a need for a "goodie" bag of sorts, but I would be right there with you if I did have a long commuting time!
