A Full Snow Day

Like so many around here in North Texas, we got an unexpected snow day. One of the best things for me was the roaring fire we had going in the fireplace. Rick had plenty of wood for me, so it was no big deal to occasionally throw a log on throughout the day.

One of the first things I did was to read this. If you have not read it, you NEED to ASAP! You can do it in three hours or less.

Then I did my Bible reading and lesson for the ladies' study.

Then I made these chocolate covered oreos. Y.U.M.M.Y!

Next, I made an 8x8 photo book of our Savannah trip. The best part of this -- it was free!

Then I made beef stir fry for dinner. Justin and the kiddos came while Keelie was giving her art lessons.

Jonah is spending the night.

After hot chocolate and a bath, he's asleep, and the fire is still roaring.......

A great day!

  6. Had a snow day here in GA, too! Our wood burning stove had to work overtime to keep up! I did some reading, too..... started a new book my daughter recommended. Otherwise, I was lazier than you...ha! ha! I did cook dinner and earlier in the afternoon I attended a funeral of the 22 year old daughter of a co-worker. That was heartbreaking....kind of did me in. Glad you had such a good day!

  8. Down here in central Texas, we just had a dreary, drizzly day. My girl was disgusted with reports of snow to the north of us!

  9. Hi Diana,
Sounds like a fun and productive day to me. I tend to like cooking much better in the winter time for some reason, guess cause it helps keep me warm,
and there is no yard work to do. I really love winter days where you can cozy up by a fire or with a blanket and read. They are rejuvenating days actually. I am wondering if that is the book I have heard about....it was about what happened to a lil boy that was in an accident or something when he was very small and the things he started telling his parents afterward and his dad decided to write it down and make a book,
Is that what your book is about???
    Certainly sounds neat!!
You have a good day Sweetie,
    Blessings, Nellie

  10. What a wonderful day! (sounds a bit like my day)
We got 7 inches of snow here in Mississippi! I made snow cream for breakfast, read, napped, took some pictures of the snow, ended up on the 4 wheeler with my husband and son, made a big pot of deer stew, enjoyed coffee, watched part of the SEC game last night since our neighbor, Auburn was playing. (I'm not a big football fan, but we had friends that went to the game)
    Just a perfect day!

    Happy Tuesday to you Diana!

    Love,
    Liesa

  15. There is something joyful about storms that interrupt routine. Snow or freezing rain suddenly releases you from expectations, performance demands, and the tyranny of appointments and schedules

Not a favorite book but I liked the quote.

  17. Sounds like you had a wonderful snow day!! Those oreos look delish!!! I love those kind of days. Unfortunately our snow didn't stick. Lovely while it was coming down..but didn't stick so I had to drive on in to work. :) I think I'm going to have to find that book, it looks like a good read. You stay warm and cozy and have a beautiful day!!

  18. Okay, you left out one small detail in your day. How many of the Oreos did you eat before you took the picture? Haha! Glad you had such a good day. I enjoyed our fireplace Sunday and watched movies while I crocheted. It was a lazy and nice day!
