Have you ever wondered who Ben and Jerry are?
They are lifelong friends who found that college life was not too inspirational for them. So in 1978 with a $12,000 investment, Ben and Jerry opened a Ben & Jerry's Homemade ice cream scoop shop in a renovated gas station in downtown Burlington, Vermont. Their adventure led to the establishment of one of the most successful American ice cream brands of all times.
While in Vermont, we toured the plant. Pretty cool (excuse the pun)! Workers put out about a million of those cute little cartons a day. They only make two different flavors on a given day. Although the two guys sold the company in 2000 for MILLIONS of dollars, they are still very active in foundational work under their names. Now you know......
Love that stuff!
ReplyDeleteI like their ice-cream, but don't buy it very often.....i love me some chocolate cookie dough!!!

ReplyDeleteI love that motto! I may adopt it this weekend after I hit the grocery store. LOL
ReplyDeleteMy kind of fun. I love that last picture. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteI never knew the story. Inspiring to see someone take a dream and not be afraid to run with it.
ReplyDeleteI remember when they were in their early days. My favorite is their Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
ReplyDeleteI'm an ice cream addict if ever there was one! As much as I relish the richest of Ben & Jerry's offerings, I've graduated to sugarfree & low-fat. That way I can justify a heap of carmel topping! :)
ReplyDeleteBen and Jerry's ice cream plant looks as unique as their ice cream. How fun!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are doing well and recovered. Great!
I knew about Ben and Jerry but never visited the factory! Now, I have seen it thanks to you. I love their ice-cream but can only eat it once in awhile for a treat, especially now that I am older! :0)
ReplyDeleteBen & Jerry's looks neat but nothing beats Blue Bell HA!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, not a place to go when you you're on a diet
ReplyDeleteWhat I want to know is did they give you free ice cream and how much? ;-) Looks like you had fun.
ReplyDeleteLove their yummy stuff. Hope you are mending well.
ReplyDeleteWhen we toured the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory years ago, we got large samples. My question is, how many times did you go through the sample line? Ha ha! Okay, I have my Laura Bush book---let the reading begin!
ReplyDeleteYummy.
ReplyDeleteI bet you enjoyed touring the plant. I have always loved doing things like that and learning more about the product, etc. I like their ice cream so much! Sounds like you all had a wonderful trip. I have never been to the New England states, but want to go sometime. Love & blessings from NC!
