Harley Davidson Quilt
When my husband sold his Harley bike, he had a whole wardrobe full of HD t-shirts literally from all over the world. I wanted to do something to save just a few of the shirts for him in some "Harley Hog" special meaningful way (whatever that means) and give it to him for Christmas. So I asked him to pick out twelve of his favorite t-shirts that he wanted to keep to remember perhaps certain rides or memories .
I cut the squares off either the front or back of the t-shirt depending on which side I thought would make the best finished 12 X 12 square.
I purchased for little or nothing one black sheet for the backing and some of this cool Harley-colored orange fabric for the borders, sashes, etc. I already had some batting on hand. Then I began to piece it square by square. It was finished off with a machine for durability.
That is an awsome idea! My hubby and I ride bikes , and he has many old t-shirts.... I will keep this in the back of my head for someday.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day!

Love it! you did a great job with it. My FIL loves Harley's and had to sell his a long time ago. I should see if my MIL can steal some tshirts for me. I love how you sashed with orange and it is quilted. Looks great. would love to see other t-shirt quilts you have done.

ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful idea! I have been thinking of doing the same thing with some of Katie's clothes, but I am just not ready to cut them up. You made it so beautiful. Did you use a pattern, or create your own?
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog. I am happy to "meet" you. Blessings to you and your beautiful family.
What a great idea! You could use t-shirts from vacations and so many other "themes." Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a REALLY cool quilt. How did you attach the t-shirt part of the quilt? Or was the black area made of t-shirt material. What a considerate and loving thing to do for your husband.
