Undercover Boss Shows Up!

The new reality series, UNDERCOVER BOSS, has nothing on us here in North Texas!

To fill you in just in case you haven't heard about it, this is a show which follows high-level chief executives as they slip anonymously into the rank and file of their companies.

Each week a different executive leaves the comfort of their office for an undercover mission to examine how things work out in the field. While working alongside their employees, they get an up-close look at both the good and the bad while discovering the unsung heroes who make the company or organization run.

So...we had our own such event this past week. This is the superintendent of our school district as he ventured out of his office. This pic was taken at the middle school as he served students coming through the cafeteria at lunch. Doesn’t he look like he’s enjoying himself? Needless to say, he was a HIT!

  1. Will your next post be about his mad donkey wrangling skills?

  2. GOOD FOR HIM!!! I'm sure his cafeteria staff appreciated his efforts. But, maybe the true test of character would have been in the dishwasher room. :) I love that show.

  3. Oh, he got that experience as well. From what I understand he got himself wet as well as some of the other staff! HA

  8. Good for him! I bet the staff got a huge kick out of this. I've only managed to see one episode of the show, but I really enjoyed it. I would love to see our superintendent do this, but somehow I don't see that happening! Kathy

  9. I enjoyed that show the first night it came on after the Super Bowl and it was good. The man that night was the CEO of a trash company and he actually went out and worked on the garbage trucks. He was a neat guy and I love the interaction he had with his employees and their reaction when they found out who he was. I'm sure your superintendent had a great experience too. Love & blessings from NC!

  11. Hey Diana! I just saw that show, what fun the superintendent rolled up his sleeves and served. I so admire and respect that.

You may not know this but I have a background doing geriatric rehab in Occupational Therapy and one day I needed help with a patient who was stuck in a real life toileting incident... yes rehab is glamorous work. Anyhow the director of Nursing who was in a suit answered the call light took her business suit jacket off and rolled up her sleeves and assisted rather than delegating to a poor overworked aide. I'll never forget how mighty that action was and how much I respected her for it!

To answer your question about migraines you should try to keep a journal of what might be a trigger. Mine seems to be optical... really bright light. I even had sunglasses on Sunday, but I still got one for whatever reason. For others a trigger may be a kind of food, etc... I have to lie down and sleep mine off. If I wasn't pregnant ibuprofin helps me, but i haven't been taking any other meds than prenatal vitamin. I drink extra water and try to do deep breathing and relaxation. I also use lavender oil, rub it on my temples and the back of my neck and under my nose. I'm not sure if this would work for you or make it worse. The main thing is I have to just go lie down and a dark and quiet room. The last one I had was June so I have done pretty good to dodge them but I never had them until recently. Hope this helps! After typing this I guess I should have e-mailed you but maybe someone else will benefit from this too.

  16. I think it's real important for the uppity ups to see what is going on in their companies like this. My husband is a hands on boss with his employees and I really respect him for this and his integrity.
    Great post!
