Blue Bird of Happiness

This beautiful blue glass bird is a widely accepted symbol of cheerfulness, happiness, prosperity, hearth and home, good health, new births, the renewal of springtime, etc. Virtually any positive sentiments may be attached to the bluebird.

Mother had a very special friend, Neva Streetman, who shared these beautiful little birds with her many friends over the years. Mother acquired several of these from Neva during times when their paths crossed--usually when Neva would visit Mother in the hospital. She would bring Mother one of these special little friends as a token of her friendship and love.

I am so grateful that all of us-- Marilyn, Jenna, Keelie and myself--have these to enjoy. I have mine in very visible places and get reminded of friendship and love between two
special friends every time I look at them.

  2. As Paul Harvey would say, "and for the rest of the story." Not only did she take these to her friends when they were ill or in the hospital, but she bought cases of these to be passed out at her funeral. According to Rick, everyone - young and old, received one at her funeral.
