It's a Girl!

Jenna and Jared recently did a very small and simple gender reveal. I say small and simple because all the family members knew the sex of the baby except Jonah and Glory. Jenna thought the kiddos would get a kick out of finding out in a way in little more exciting manner than just outright telling them.

Marilyn graciously made the cupcakes with pink filling for all of us. The expressions on their faces are reflective of what they had expressed regarding girl or boy.

Glory wanted a girl!

Jonah had wanted it to be a boy!

VBS 2015

Reasons I'm loving VBS this year besides the most obvious (teaching about Jesus is going on!) include:

*all the excitement on the children's faces
*Jonah and Glory are there
*little Anja is getting to be there
*Rick is able to help Alicia (worship leader) in the sound booth
*Marilyn makes daily bread
*I'm helping with registration
*great Tribe leaders

Nashville Notes

Marilyn, Cheyrl, and I went to Nashville. We intentionally chose to avoid the Country Music Fest crowd; however, we did overlap it on Sunday. We had a great time doing some of the top rated tourist things. It was just impossible to get everything in though.

We saw great shows at the Grand Ole Opry as well as the "Wizard of Oz" in Nashville's symphony hall. We also toured the Ryman, Country Music Hall of Fame, Barbara Mandrell's former home (Fontanel), RCA Studio B, and Andrew Jackson's plantation (Hermitage).

We ended up in Memphis with a great four-hour city tour.

Then...we flew home on a rough plane ride back to Texas through the "Tropical Storm Bill" stuff. It was scary might I say!

June Races

Just a few pics from our weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Roger and Teresa also camped with us. Marilyn, Rickie, Justin, Jonah, Tim, Kelle, and John also made appearances. We missed Jared and Jenna as they were out of town.

Lake Texoma 2015

Last Sunday after church we tried to go to the water going over the Lake Texoma spillway.  Hundreds, maybe thousands, of other people were there, too. We had to settle on the floodgates.

Yesterday afternoon, Rickie and Marilyn took us back out there. We had no trouble this time getting to the spillway. This is the fourth time in the lake's history that it has gone over  (1957, 1990, 2007, and now 2015). Rick remembers seeing it each time; I have seen it three of the four times; he's older -- LOL.

This is so amazing that the lake is up over 30 feet. It's at least 5 and 1/2 feet deep as it is going over!
